Utah State junior Cierra Simmons took second in her section of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:57.70 at the Division 1 West Regionals at Sacramento State. Simmons, who ran 10:24.78 to place 13th at last year's regionals, qualified ninth overall for the NCAA championship meet at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
