Four Sun Devil TandF Relays Qualify For NCAA Championships - Arizona State Sun Devils

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—The final day of competition at the NCAA West Preliminary meet at the University of Arkansas’ John McDonnell Field saw all four of Arizona State track and field’s relay teams qualify for the June’s NCAA Championships.

Including Friday’s qualifiers, the Sun Devils will send six individual athletes with the four relay teams to compete at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 11-14, at Oregon’s Hayward Field.

ASU opened the afternoon with the men’s 4x100m relay team of redshirt junior Devan Spann, senior Will Henry, senior Daveon Collins, and redshirt senior Ryan Milus winning their heat with a season best time of 39.08.

The women’s 4x100m relay team of senior Asiah Gooden, senior Alycia Herring, junior Brianna Tate, and freshman LaTroya Franklin followed with a time of 44.53, for second in their heat, automatically qualifying at seventh overall.

Junior Shelby Houlihan then punched her ticket to the NCAA meet, winning her heat in the 1500m semis with a time of 4:18.50, for third overall.
